Time management and boundaries are the two main strategic objectives to re-define work-life balance, but now that our work is in our home, people are suffering.

If you find yourself burning out, remember you are in control of your life and your career. How you choose to build yourself back up where you are excited and passionate about your work is entirely in your control. Here are some things you should consider:

1. Take a look at your wfh space and give it an upgrade. Your space should be motivating and easy to navigate. Respect your workspace as one for work. In other words, when you get up and move, you should be leaving the space designed for your work. When you are in this space, you should be in work mode.

2. Beware of the distractors. Keep your personal time allocated for personal time. Have a contractor coming in to install something? Block that time off in your calendar and assign it for personal time. Just make sure you let your employer know that you are blocking that time for personal and that you will make it up on the back end to ensure your work product does not suffer. If a friend calls you during work time, let them know how much you wish to chat, but if it would be okay if you called them back when you have free time to speak.

3. Manage your time and create boundaries. Managing time and creating boundaries is so freeing. Your calendar is there for a reason. Start making it work for you. Block where you can and don’t schedule over it. It is okay to provide alternative days and times, regardless of the audience.

When you allocate space and time to work for you, not to you, you open yourself up to the freedom from burn out. You will then see a refresh in your personal relationships, life, and overall wellness as a result. Try these three things for 30 days and track your thoughts and feelings in a journal. Look back, and you will see how refreshed you have become.

Hack 1 – Chlorophyll Water
If you have ever attended a biology class, you know that chlorophyll is the substance that gives plants their green color. Now, it’s trendy to drink guaranteeing health benefits such as detoxing and curing acne, but health officials report that chlorophyll isn’t necessary to achieve these outcomes. I know it’s disappointing to hear that you still have to eat your vegetables, but it shouldn’t come as a surprise to hear that this TikTok trend is a fad.

Hack 2 – Sun Contour
This is by far the strangest trend that has appeared on my TikTok page. It is similar to the way some people create “sunburn tattoos” by only placing sunscreen everywhere except in a certain patch of skin. Amanda Ross, a lifestyle writer for Byrdie, interviewed Dr. Rachel Nazarian, a dermatologist, who found that this trend would simply ruin your skin. Not only did your TikTok hack fail, but you’ve made yourself susceptible to all types of skin illnesses.

Hack 3 – Cucumber Water
Are you looking for a refreshing beverage to quench your thirst? A recent trend on both Pinterest and TikTok has advertised the nutritious qualities of this drink and health professionals are backing it. If you’re interested, just cut up a cucumber and add it to some water with lemon and sip away. For something so simple, it has AMAZING hydrating qualities and can easily replace carbonated beverages. The Healthline reports that it can subside some cravings that may just be a result of your mind.

Hack 4 – “Everything But the Bagel”
Trader Joes has this bagel and I also found a copycat version of the “Everything But the Bagel” seasoning at TJ Maxx. You may have seen this seasoning combined with cream cheese and spread on bell peppers. It’s DELICIOUS and Keto friendly. I would beware of the kind of cream cheese you use, otherwise, this snack is filling and low in calories. It’s definitely a “fit” TikTok trend for your taste buds.

Are you a chronic goal setter? Maybe you know someone who is. A lot of us walk around with a “to-do” list, either written out or in electronic format, but these are not goals. When I speak of goals I mean the life-altering decisions you make.

True goal setting has four major components: 1) Deciding what you want, 2) Developing a Strategic Plan of how you’ll achieve it, 3) Developing a Tactical Plan that shows how you will achieve the Strategic Plan, and 4) Setting deadlines for the execution of the Tactical Plan.
Step one might seem obvious but for most people deciding what they want is the hardest step in this process.

This is a very personal decision that only you can make. We all want different things and finding out what makes your heart sing is your own personal journey. Decision making is intrinsically linked to our emotions and given our unlimited choices, makes choosing virtually impossible. The key is to make a decision based on what you most want and then, make that decision right.

The second step is writing a strategic plan to get from where you are to where you want to be. This is generally where goal setting starts to breaks down. This is meant to be a statement of everything you think you need to do to achieve your goal.

The third step is the tactical plan is where the rest of the goal-setting falls apart. The tactical portion is meant to be the step-by-step guide for how to achieve the strategic plan. Well, that’s great if you have already achieved what you want – because then you would know the steps to take.
